Gleason Cable Reels
Electric cable reels are designed to handle a specified length of cable in a predetermined manner.
The unique feature is a "SLIP RING" assembly which allows the transfer of electrical current, from a stationary to a rotary mode, as the cable spool turns. This allows the automatic payout and retraction of cable without disconnecting the cable.
Automatic rewind is accomplished by the tensioning of a spring when the cable is paid-out. The cable is automatically rewound onto the spool when equipment moves towards the reel or when a locking device is released.
